Basics of Music I - Intervals and chords.

First of all, I have to say I have new songs I will upload next Wednesday, and I'm preparing the other section.
And, I want to give thanks to JJ, my friend, who checks the blog and revises my English. This time JJ has checked the tutorial before upload it.

(Edit: Sorry beacause of the button, but it was too long..)

Well, let's start. Modern music is composed by chords. If you want to create a song, you've to decide the harmony, and you will do this selecting some chords. However, to build correctly the chords, you need to learn intervals before.

  1. I think this is a great intro into the concept of intervals and chords. However, I must say that you missed an important concept that may help those who have never studied music theory: you did not explain the difference between the major and minor intervals. You suddenly introduce the idea that a major chord is built up of a major third and a minor third, but do not define those. A major third consists of 4 half-steps (half-tones) whereas a minor third consists of 3. That is crucial when building chords, and it is the fundamental reason each chord sounds different.

Other than that, I say good job.

  3. Then don't read it at eight in the morning. If you're going to post, at least post something contructive. This is a major undertaking on Victor Seven's part, and it deserves respect.

  4. Agree with October Ghost. It's difficult to understand at the beginning, it needs time. Try it with the exercises, they will help you.
I will clarify the difference between major, minor, diminished... intervals this weekend.

And I've uploaded two new sheets =)
